THURSDAY NIGHT CONCERT SERIES KICKS-OFF IN THE VISTA
Free Weekly Series to Raise Funds for Children’s Cancer Research
Columbia, SC-- This Thursday night (April 5th) a new free concert series launches in the Vista. Titled the Vista Block Party, the concert series will take place in the parking lot behind Jillian’s Columbia located at 800 Gervais Street, and will kick things off with The Embers. Parking for the event is free, and begins each Thursday at 5:30pm. Columbia can expect to see some of the region’s favorite bands, including The Root Doctors, The Fantastic Shakers, The Finesse Band and many more. The Vista Block Party will be filling the gap left by the cancellation of the Vista After 5 Concert Series.

Concertgoers will also have the opportunity to win exciting items throughout the series, including a Steve Spurrier-autographed Gamecock Football and Gamecock Helmet. Proceeds from these events will be donated to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The Vista Block Party is sponsored by the Vista Guild, Pepsi, MillerCoors, C/Sculptures Construction Services, The Palms on Main, Discover Columbia, and Jillian’s.

The schedule for the series is as follows: 4.5 The Embers, 4.12 Holiday Band, 4.19 Fantasy Band, 4.26 Right to Party, 5.3 Fantastic Shakers, 5.10 The Men of Distinction, 5.17 The Mark Roberts Band, 5.24 The Root Doctors, 5.31 Finesse Band, and the series concludes on 6.7 with The Catalinas.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. The St. Baldrick's Foundation currently funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. The Foundation coordinates its signature head-shaving events worldwide, where volunteers get bald to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer and raise money to support life-saving childhood cancer research. St. Baldrick's events are the largest volunteer-driven fundraising opportunity benefitting pediatric cancer research. The head-shaving events in Columbia have been held for the past four years at Jillian’s Columbia and have raised a quarter of a million dollars.
